Description
of the Badwater Course
The Badwater race course starts at Badwater at 282 feet below sea level and finishes at 8,360 feet on Mt. Whitney. As you can see from the elevation profile below, there are three significant climbs in the course.

The map below will acquaint you with some of the locations on the course. Key locations are Furnace Creek (mile 17), Stovepipe Wells (mile 42), Panamint Springs (mile 72), and Lone Pine (mile 122). Other key locations are the top of the first two climbs, the first one at mile 58 (Townes Pass summit) and the second one at mile 90 (Darwin turnoff).
